case studies

To protect our clients privacy, we've removed their names from some of the following case studies, but nameless or not, we're sure you'll conclude that we deliver results for every client.

Case Study #1Consumer Electronics Manufacturer

The Challenge: This company was separated from its much larger parent in 2000 and during the general hi-tech slump in 2002, it became essential for our client, like all others in this market space, to rapidly reduce its operating cost without impacting the existing or future business.

Our Role: We played a "high profile" role in identifying and leading many of the cost reduction activities, taking personal accountability for contract renewal with special emphasis on cost reduction, cost avoidance, and system consolidation.

Case Study #2IT Program Management Office

The Challenge: This company, established in 1992, had rapidly grown to a $2B company with 4000 employees by 2005. Not unexpectedly, the basic IT governance, necessary for a "start up" was now inhibiting the company's ability to take full advantage of growth opportunities appearing now, and projected in the future.

Our Role: We rapidly established a new IT governance model that would support the business by encouraging new ideas that would be speedily assessed for true business benefit, and then managed "pragmatically" to a successful implementation.

Case Study #3IT Healthcheck

The Challenge: This company had rapidly grown to a $3B company with 6000 employees by 2007. The rapid growth had resulted in a broad and diverse environment of hardware and software employed in IT, no mechanism existed to incorporate upgrades into the planning process to ensure the environment was current and supportable.

Our Role: Having captured the fundamental data about the IT computing environment we used our internally developed model to conduct a comprehensive "healthcheck" for all aspects of the technology stack. The management reports provided to senior personnel were utilized to determine the upgrade and replacement projects that were needed as part of the ongoing roadmap to improve the supportability of the production environment.

Case Study #4British Nuclear Group

The Challenge: As set out by the British Parliament to create a new Business within British Nuclear Fuels Limited, to be known as the British Nuclear Group, that could a) become privatised from government, and b) have the ability to independently bid for contracts focused on all aspects of service in the nuclear world ranging from the management of nuclear plants to the clean up of contaminated nuclear sites.

Our Role: Reporting directly to the Chief Executive of The British Nuclear Group with his mission of rapidly establishing this new enterprise.

Case Study #5Ofcom - Office of Communications

The Challenge: To set up a new world class regulatory office for the converging communications sector. The new Office of Communications merged the functions of five existing regulatory bodies, namely the Independent Television Commission (ITC), the Broadcasting Standards Commission (BSC), the Office of Telecommunications (Oftel), the Radio Authority (RAu) and the Radiocommunications Agency (RA).

Our Role: Reporting directly to the Ofcom CEO (Stephen Carter), the planning, coordination and management through to successful delivery, of the location and formation of Ofcom in accordance with the associated Launch Definition, derived from and in support of, the Communications Bill. The bill required that Ofcom be fully formed and vested by the end of 2003.

Case Study #6IDX (now part of GE Healthcare)

The Challenge: To successfully implement the first IDX "Carecast" electronic patient record application in the UK at University College London Hospitals (UCLH).

Our Role: To directly support the General Manager and subsequent Managing Director of IDX (UK) with his mission of delivering a new Patient Administration System to the University College of London Hospitals in time for the planned opening by the Queen.
